Do you hear the terms therapist, counselor, healer, or coach and wonder what they do?

Do you think your problems aren’t big enough to see someone for help?

Or think you should be able to fix it all on your own?

Maybe you are even thinking what the hell happens in a session with a therapist, counselor, or coach. Forget all the terms they use like EMDR, ACT, CBT, art therapy and Reiki!!! Well then, welcome to the Forward Emotion blog – where we aim to set it straight.

Why a Blog?

A blog is the closest thing to an intimate, one-on-one conversation we can have without having an actual intimate, one-on-one conversation. This blog is somewhere between what we can share via social media and the actual time that we can spend together in a workshop or private session. It lets us share information with you in a less formal way than the pages of our website and more than what we can convey in a Facebook or Instagram post.

What to Expect from the Forward Emotion Blog?

The goal of this blog is to be both informational and educational. We want to change the stigma that surrounds finding help for better mental health and overall wellbeing. Essentially everyone in the world struggles with something – their feelings, their emotions, major life events –  but they don’t need to do it alone

Sometimes we will use this blog to share stories from our own lives and other times we will share educational or informational posts. Other times we will share humorous stories or answers to your questions, kinda like those old advice columns. We also plan on sharing recaps from events and group workshops. No matter what the actual topic is, the goal of this blog will always be to let our readers know that counseling, coaching, and therapy are accessible for everyone.

Real Topics from Real People

At Forward Emotion it is important for our clients to know that our providers are all real people. We are not the wooden, blank, emotionless therapist of movies and your Psych 101 textbooks. We have good days and bad days. We have been through conflicts, through troubling times. We have been through therapy and counseling as clients. We have been to life coaches and Reiki sessions. We are real people with valuable skills and education to help guide you and help you move ahead through difficult times in your own life. As a result, the future blog topics will reflect this real-life attitude and subject matter…and humor. Lots and lots of humor. We like to be able to laugh at ourselves. We’ll let you laugh at us, too.

What You Won’t See in the Forward Emotion Blog

Because therapy is a very personal experience and there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all approach to treatment and wellnesswe will not address specific questions or situations in these blog posts. And of course, we will never, ever share examples from actual clients or workshop attendees. Finally, because this blog is for you, a real-live person considering reaching out for help or already working with us, it will include real information, not nasty click-bait or over the top titles without any substance besides ads.
