Initial Call
We will have an initial call for about 15-20 minutes. This way, we can get an understanding of what you’re looking for and how we can help you. We encourage you to ask any questions to get to know us a little, too.
If we are a good fit, we will then set up your first appointment.
First Appointments
We want your appointments to be as comfortable for you as possible. Hopefully, you will notice that the office is set up to NOT look like a typical doctor’s office and instead be a cozy place to talk. And just like any guest we would have in our home, you will be offered something to drink.
The first thing that we will work on together is completing some paperwork, if you haven’t done this online already (Hint, hint: completing paperwork online before your first appointment will save time and trees!). This will lead us into talking more in depth about your needs to gain more information on how our sessions together can help you. This will most likely take up the rest of the session and may need to be continued.
What we discuss in the initial session will help us plan your short-term and long-term goals. It will also lead to planning future sessions. For example, depending on your needs, we might meet once a week or every other week.
We will also discuss the various methods of treatment that are offered: traditional talk therapy, art therapy, Reiki, coaching, dance/movement therapy, EMDR and more. It’s okay if you are not familiar with these forms of treatment. We will discuss each of them. Which approach we use really depends on you. Having more than one technique helps apply a more personal touch to meet each client’s needs.
Future Sessions
Our future sessions will consist of working on your goals. Work often continues outside of sessions. For example, you might be given something to focus on in between sessions and for us to discuss next time. Sometimes life interferes with our plans. We will help you through those times, and we will adjust our work together.
